Hi, I'm new on here so if I'm doing this wrong then please let me know!! I have a question about my File Explorer running extremely slow.
Starting I'd say earlier this year (around Jan - Feb), I noticed File Explorer was running a lot slower then usual. First, it was small things, like thumbnails for files taking a while to load in or not load in at all, but then it started getting progressively worse. Right-clicking files would take over a minute to load, sometimes even more, and then soon, right-clicking files just prompted File Explorer to freeze and give the "Not Responding" message next to its name at the top of the window. Sometimes, after a couple more minutes, it'll load in fine, but sometimes it would make my screen go black for a moment, and then when the display came back on it seemingly was refreshing all my files, as all the apps on my taskbar will disappear and then gradually reappear. After this, File Explorer works fine for the most part. This used to only happen on big files, but not its been happening with files of any size. File Explorer has also began to act this way when I download too many files too fast, or when I transfer too many files from one place to another too fast. This used to be a minor issue, but now nearly a year later its gone past the point of minor annoyance and is now nearly non-functional, as downloading even 3 files or right-clicking on any file completely freezes everything up.
Does anyone have any options on how to fix this? Is there anything I can do?
