LEXINGTON, KY – The La Salle women's basketball team will travel to the University of Kentucky to face the Wildcats for the first time in program history in a night time battle on Saturday, Nov. 27. Tipoff is at 8:30 p.m.SCOUTING THE EXPLORERS:
- La Salle returns to the court following a victory at home against Lafayette on Tuesday night. The Explorers recorded its largest margin of victory this season defeating the Leopards by 21 points, 73-52. La Salle also recorded its biggest lead in a game this season pulling ahead by 28 points in the third quarter.
- Senior Kayla Spruill led the scoring effort for the Explorers shooting 7-of-11 from the field, 3-of-5 from deep and 4-of-4 from the line for 21 points, a new season-high. Spruill is the first Explorer to reach at least 20 points in a game this season. Spruill has reached double figures five-straight contests.
- Junior Amy Jacobs finished the night in double figures (11 pts). She sunk back-to-back 3-pointers to start the third quarter extending the Explorers' lead by 23 points. The double-digit effort marks her first of the season. Her 35 attempted threes mark the most by an Explorer this season.
- Freshman Kenya Côté-Lysius led the defensive rebounding effort with a career-high six defensive boards.
- The Explorers won the turnover battle, 25-10, marking their highest margin of the season.
- La Salle continues to represent from the 3-point range tying for ninth nationally in 3-pointers made (51) and fourth in attempted threes (171). The Explorers dominated from beyond the arc against the Leopards going 11-of-35 while Lafayette went 3-of-10.
- The squad is shooting 35.9% from the floor, 29.8% from the long range and 77.7% from the line.
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS:
- After its first loss of the season against Indiana on Nov. 14, the Wildcats got back into the win column a week later dominating Winthrop with a 92-47 victory. UK pulled ahead of the Eagles from the start, holding a large lead at the half.
- Rhyne Howard earned the third ever triple-double in program history with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
- Howard, Jada Walker, Dre'una Edwards and Robyn Benton are averaging double-digits in scoring this season. Howard leads the effort with 20 points per game and 8.3 boars. Edwards is close behind with 18.5 points per game and 5.8 rebounds. Benton has earned 10+ in all four games averaging 12.8 points per game while Walker is averaging 10.8.
- Currently, UK is No. 20 in the AP Top 25 and No. 17 in the Coaches' Top 25.
