Green Creek Fire Rescue has partnered with the Boy Scouts of America to start Polk County’s first Fire Explorer Program. This program will allow young people between the ages of 15 and 18 the opportunity to experience all the different facets of the fire service, which may lead them into a career in either firefighting or emergency medical service upon graduation from high school. Those who enter and enjoy the program will leave with great life changing experiences that will benefit their entire adult life, as they gain confidence, motivation, responsibility, and leadership values.
As Explorers enter the program, they will be required to attend and participate in a portion of monthly training opportunities, while practicing safety, teamwork, and positive fellowship. Some skills that will be taught are basic first aid, use of fire clothing and equipment, health and wellness in the fire service, basics of firefighting and much more. Training will most likely be two evenings a month and possibly one Saturday a month.
If you are interested in our Explorer Program and would like more information, please email craw0717@gmail.com for further information and the application process.
