A Bolingbrook man has been charged with aggravated assault after authorities say he tried to run down at least two people with a Ford Explorer in April.
On April 7, officers responded to the 500 block of North Ashbury Avenue after receiving a report of a domestic dispute, Bolingbrook police said.
Kearis Lowe, 20, of the 200 block of Butternut Drive, was in a verbal dispute with a woman, tried to hit her family members with his vehicle and then fled the area, officials said.
On May 8, Judge Matthew Bertani signed a warrant for Lowe’s arrest on two counts of aggravated assault, court records show. The warrant carries a $100,000 bond.
According to a criminal complaint filed against Lowe, he tried to strike a man and a woman with a Ford Explorer.
Lowe’s ex-girlfriend, who is not one of the victims in the aggravated assault case, petitioned for a protective order against him April 20, 2018, court records show.
The petition claimed Lowe was physically and mentally abusive to her for two years.
“I am tired of the abuse and want him to stay away from me,” Lowe’s ex-girlfriend wrote in the petition.
A judge granted the order the same day, and the case was dismissed May 11, 2018, when no one appeared for a hearing on whether it should remain active, court record show.
His ex-girlfriend’s petition said he was a passenger in her vehicle when he tried to take the wheel and turn the vehicle into a tree. His ex-girlfriend claimed she was hospitalized for injuries from the crash.
