Family of UConn murder suspect Peter Manfredonia urges him to surrender - New York Post

A lawyer representing the family of the University of Connecticut senior wanted in two murders said Monday that the suspect has a history of mental illness and urged him to surrender.

“If you are listening, your entire family loves you,” attorney Michael Dolan said Monday, addressing 23-year-old suspect Peter Manfredonia, the Connecticut Post reported.

“Nobody wants any harm to come to you. It’s time to let the healing process begin. It’s time to surrender,” Dolan said outside of his Hamden law office, the report said.

Manfredonia is considered armed and dangerous and was last seen in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Dolan said that over the past several years Manfredonia has “struggled with mental health issues.”

“He’s sought the help of a therapist and he’s had the support of his parents and loved ones to help him through his struggles,” he reportedly said.

Manfredonia, a Newtown native, is accused of killing 62-year-old Ted DeMers and seriously injuring another elderly man Friday morning in Willington, Connecticut.

He is also a suspect in the slaying of his friend, 23-year-old Nicholas Eisele, who was found dead inside his Derby, Ct., home Sunday morning, police have said.
