Local youth sought for new Animal Services Explorer Program - cityofmissionviejo.org

explorexs.blogspot.com

Mission Viejo Animal Services is rolling out a new youth explorer program – designed to provide local youth with leadership skills and knowledge that will contribute to a healthy transition to future fulfilling careers.

To prepare for the program, staff researched other programs and worked with Orange County “Learning for Life.”  The Learning for Life division of the Boy Scouts of America developed its explorer program for career-oriented young adults ages 14-18. Members are referred to as "explorers," but the program is different from scouting.

Exploring is a co-educational, young-adult program developed and supervised by local community organizations, businesses, and individuals. Exploring offers young adults an opportunity to gain knowledge and skills while considering career options. Mission Viejo Animal Services Explorers will learn about animal rescue and rehabilitation; animal cruelty investigations and prosecutions; wildlife education; veterinary services; emergency medicine; disaster planning; dispatching; and more.

It’s exciting opportunity for teenagers to gain experience working in animal-related fields. Animal Services Explorers will attend meetings and assist the City during events and programs.

To apply, fill out this application. For more information, contact ask-shelter@cityofmissionviejo.org or visit cmvas.org.
