Police search for motive in Colorado birthday party shooting | TheHill - The Hill

Police in Colorado Springs, Colo., are searching for a motive in a mass shooting at a birthday party that left seven people dead on Sunday, The Associated Press reported.

A mobile crime lab was parked outside of the home at a trailer park on Monday, the AP reported. The area was cordoned off by yellow police tape, which was later removed and afterward, mourners in the neighborhood came to pay their respects to the victims.

Sandy Wilson of the El Paso County Coroner’s Office said officials are still in the process of identifying the victims of the shooting. Authorities have yet to release the identity of the gunman, a possible motive or information on the weapons used.

Gladis Bustos, who lives three homes away, identified the homeowner as Joana, describing her as a “incredibly pleasant woman, very beautiful, happy all the time.”

“She loved to chat. And she was very proud of her family," Bustos said.

Police said that the suspected gunman was a boyfriend of one of the victims.

The shooting at the birthday party comes weeks after a shooter at a King Soopers supermarket killed 10 people in Boulder, Colo.
