In Warren County, the board of supervisors has put out a call seeking new uses for the county fairgrounds in Warrensburg. Having outside groups rent the grounds for events can provide the county with additional sources of revenue. READ MORE

LET SLEEPING BATS LIE?: While tens of thousands of bats are cozy in Mariah’s Barton Hill hibernaculum, unbeknownst to them, a drama is playing out about the future of the mine shaft they call home.
Just down the hill, a developer is looking to reopen a pair of mines that closed in the 1970s to create a new hydroelectricity project.
If approved, the project could disrupt the bats’ winter home, which contains one of the largest populations of endangered Indiana bats outside of the Midwest. From the Jan/Feb issue of the magazine, reporter Ry Rivard investigates. READ MORE
