Mitsubishi Heavy Industries has postponed the launch of the United Arab Emirates' Mars explorer scheduled on Wednesday due to bad weather.
An H2A rocket carrying the space vehicle named "Amal," or "Hope," was to lift off from Tanegashima Space Center in southwestern Japan at around 5:51 a.m. on Wednesday, Japan time.
A new launch date has yet to be announced.
The Mars explorer weighs about 1.5 tons, and measures eight meters wide when its solar panels are extended.
The UAE plans to put Hope in Mars' orbit in 2021 when the country celebrates 50 years since its founding.
Mitsubishi Heavy Industries won the contract for the launch four years ago. The firm has so far launched three foreign satellites.
