Group Ten Metals' states its findings suggest a gold-rich mineralization may occur there along with platinum, palladium, nickel, copper and cobalt.
Group Ten Metals Inc. (PGE:TSX.V; PGEZF:OTCQB; 5D32:FSE) announced in a news release that additional exploration work returned high-grade gold (Au), platinum (Pt) and palladium (Pd) mineralization at Pine and HGR, two of five high priority targets at the Stillwater West project in Montana.
These new results are from geological sampling and mapping along with assays from previously drilled but untested core.
"Our systematic approach in consolidating and exploring the famously metal-rich yet underexplored Stillwater district continues to proffer exciting and unexpected revelations," President and CEO Michael Rowley said in the release.
Regarding the Pine target, 9 kilometers to the west of Iron Mountain, drill core assays included 16.19 grams per ton (16.19 g/t) Au, 0.24 g/t Pt and 0.5 g/t Pd over 7.98 meters (7.98m) and 28.7 g/t Au, 1.06 g/t Pt and 1.27 g/t Pd over 2.6m hosted within the chromite-rich ultramafic stratigraphy.
From rock samples Group Ten took at Pine in 2019, results showed values up to 13.80 g/t Au, 1.1 g/t Pd and 1.28 g/t Pt. Of the 13 samples the company has taken to date, all returned grades of 2–30 g/t platinum equivalent mineralization.
As for the HGR target, returned assays on historical drill core not previously tested for precious metals returned 14.3 g/t Au, 3.1 g/t Pd and 1.66 g/t Pt. Grades are comparable with those at Pine, 9 kilometers to the west of HGR.
"Results have identified a 'gold suite' of pathfinder elements that co-occur in high-grade samples," the release noted, which can guide the targeting of gold-rich mineralization over the expansive Stillwater West property. Group Ten realized that these high-grade gold zones are much more broadly distributed and occur within some of the same horizons hosting the bulk-tonnage, polymetallic, Platreef-style deposits in the lower Stillwater complex.
